The animation shows the basic princip of the system with different kinds of application possibilities.







As an answer to the growing sector of e-commerce in the mega cities of the future we tried to find a solution for the upcoming traffic issues on the streets. The idea was to exploit a new controlled airspace within the cities where autonomous UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles), or drones, undertake daily delivery tasks to relieve the situation on the streets. The system includes the UAV, so called PID and the landing platform (PIDPad) which are scattered all over the city as well as a control center. One of the most important topics was the safety system. We interviewed a lot of people, especially aviation experts to get as much input as possible. The project was conducted in cooperation with my fellow student Robin Ritter.
